The Merchant and His Donkey

It was very very beautiful morning, a merchant who was actually a salt seller was loading the donkey with bags full of salt, wanted to go to the regional market to sell them all. The merchant and his donkey were walking along together towards the city.

They did not walk for long when they reached to the bank of a river on the road. When they were crossing the river. Unfortunately, the donkey got slipped and fell down into the river and noticed that the bags of salt loaded on his back became lighter in weight.

There was nothing that merchant could do, except returning home where he loaded his donkey again with more bags of salt. As they already the slipped at river's bank, now deliberately, the donkey again fell down into the river and wasted all the bags of salt which were on its back again.

The merchant quickly understood the donkey’s trick. He then returned home again, but this time he reloaded his donkey with bags of sponges.

The foolish donkey, tricky again set on its way. Upon reaching the river, the donkey again fell down into the water. But instead of becoming lighter in weight, it became heavier.

The merchant started laughing at the donkey and said: "You foolish donkey…. Your trick had been discovered by me already, you must know that, those who are too clever sometimes over reach themselves."
