The Tree and The Travelers

Once upon a time, there was a huge tree with a big trunk and innumerable branches right in the middle of a forest. The tree always gave rest and shelter to hundreds and thousands of travelers who pass by. Being located near 4 towns, and many villages, the tree became an ideal meeting point for travelers.

One day, two travelers reached to the tree after a long way of walking. Their destinations were one of the towns nearby. It was very hot and sunny day, and the travelers were very happy to take shelter under the tree. Exhausted, they slumped under the tree. They slept for some time, enjoying the cool shade and the soft breeze of the tree.

After short time, one of the travelers felt hungry but they had no food with them. The hungry travelers looked up at the tree just to see whether there was any fruit. But there was none, he began to curse the tree and said oh, this is just a useless tree as it has nothing to feed us, not even a fruit or even nuts.

While other traveler comforted them and asked to stay cool. However, the hungry man continuing cursing the tree.

The tree could not tolerate the cursing words of the traveler and said in a sad yet strong voice that you can’t be so ungrateful to me. Just think about your condition when you reached here in the hot and dry sunny day. I was the one who offered you a cool and comfortable place to rest and sleep with a soothing breeze. If I was not here certainly you would have died now. I have saved your life from the hot sun, but you are humiliating me.

Then the traveler realized his mistake and apologized to the tree.
